Designer's Choice Fashion Preview

Little divas on the runway.
I supported Korto Momlolu and Theresa Timmons' Designer's Choice Fashion Preview  show this year at the Clearchannel Metroplex and found some shots I thought I would share.  My Publicist, Meredith Corning, and I sat on the front row, mingled in the VIP lounge and got our photo in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (thanks Helaine Williams!).  The designers were great and I had several friends showcasing this year, so it was fun to go show them some love.

All I need - me and my rolling rack.

Here's some quick pics of my team at Bobby Haws' studio in Little Rock.  Bobby has transformed his home living room into a fully functional 24/7 photography studio and it is amazing.  I think he normally shoots creative or conceptual pieces, but today was a standard fashion studio shoot.  We all had a blast and got some great images.

Evolving Me

I am always continuing to grow as a fashion designer, looking for what inspires me and what my true voice is.  This season is no different as I tread new waters, think about my marketability, and travel outside my box.  This season it's all about the modern, sophisticated Southern woman. As I look around me at the faces and places that are familiar to me, I see my muses.  I was truly inspired by all the women like myself with their 9-5's, perhaps underneath dreaming of new horizons and accomplishing their goals.  Always dress for that which you WANT, not where you are.  These thoughts are the inspiration for my latest designs.  Enjoy.

Creative Concept Shoot

I was approached by Bobby Haws Photography to contribute one of my designs to a creative concept shoot called The Raven.  They had seen my 'Black Swan' dress via fashion shows and felt like it would make a great addition to the shoot.  I couldn't agree more.

The shoot is loosely based off the Grimm's Fairy Tale, The Seven Ravens (Source-Wikipedia):

A peasant has seven sons and no daughter. Finally a daughter is born, but is sickly. The father sends his sons to fetch water for her, in the German version to be baptized, in the Greek version to take water from a healing spring. In their haste, they drop the jug in the well. When they do not return, their father thinks that they have gone off to play and curses them and so they turn into ravens.
When the sister is grown, she sets out in search of her brothers. She attempts to get help first from the sun, which is too hot, then the moon, which craves human flesh, and then the morning star. The star helps her by giving her a chicken bone (in the German) or a bat's foot (in the Greek) and tells her she will need it to save her brothers. She finds them on the Glass Mountain. In the Greek version, she opens it with the bat's foot, in the German, she has lost the bone, and chops off a finger to use as a key. She goes into the mountain, where a dwarf tells her that her brothers will return. She takes some of their food and drink and leaves in the last cup a ring from home.
When her brothers return, she hides. They turn back into human form and ask who has been at their food. The youngest brother finds the ring, and hopes it is their sister, in which case they are saved. She emerges, and they return home.

Divas Dressing Darlings

This is the second year I have contributed to Compassion Fashion's mission of supplying little girls in Africa with some of my designs via their "Divas Dressing Darlings" program.  This year our dresses will be sent to Hope 4 Kids International and delivered by their team.

I showed a few of these pieces at the Designing Women of Little Rock fashion show, which took place at the original house from the hit TV series, "Designing Women."  The house is located in the Quapaw Quarters here in Little Rock and served as a perfect venue for a fashion show.  Hope you all enjoy a couple of my designs here and I really hope some little girl in Africa will love them:-)

Fashion Shows Galore

I am finally posting some of my fashion show photos!  These are from Iszomie Show, Little Rock Fashion Week, Love for Fashion, Designing Women of Little Rock and Baltimore Fashion Week.

Change Of Face

The surgical mission team from Little Rock's Children's Hospital in partnership with Delta Dental took some of my dresses via Compassion Fashion while they were in Kenya doing cleft palette surgeries.  I was tickled to see one of my dresses get photographed of a little girl with her father after her surgery.

Little Dresses for Africa

I wanted to share some of my designs that were sent to Little Dresses for Africa via a local project called Compassion Fashion.  These were made out of simple pillowcases and turned into darling little dresses.  Thank you to the models who are sporting my designs!

Featured In Sync Magazine

Here's my pillowcase dress design featured in Sync.  Several of my dresses were sent to Little Dresses for Africa and the surgical mission team that went to Kenya, Change of Face.
